Near Upton, Maine
Classic New England Hillside
Time of day: Midday, thin overcast
October 6, 2017
Here’s a pleasant scene found in Maine’s interior. We were driving in the countryside taking in the peak fall colors, and of course scouting photo ops, when we were taken aback by this hillside as we traversed a small valley.
Being in somewhat of a rush, this was really just a quick handheld grab shot. It was quite windy.
There was an unattended/honor system roadside pie shop ahead on the roadway. We picked up a homemade blueberry pie on the return drive. Good stuff, I guess Maine is known for its blueberries.
Thought we would get a chance to reshoot this area but by the time we returned the character of the light had changed dramatically, no more thin overcast filtering the harsh sunlight. It was quite a distance from the hotel so we didn’t get back this way.
Shot with the lens wide open (f4) at ISO 800 to compensate for the wind and no tripod. No filters.
