Roadside View, Near Tenaya Lodge
Time of day: mid-day (overcast)
November 7, 2010
Casse and I went for a Sunday morning drive to Fish Camp which is just south of Yosemite’s south entrance along highway 41. We had photographed the area a couple of days before in sunlight, while en route to Yosemite, and thought we’d give it another try under overcast skies.
The dogwoods were putting on a nice display and rain was in the forecast which would also make the colors have a bit more zing. This was also a chance to get more experience shooting wooded areas which can be challenging. In sunlight we had mixed results.
I was drawn to this scene by the young conifer (let's call it Leroi). One day it will likely tower above the fray and take ownership of this space. For now, it embellishes this view with its youth and simplicity.
