Uncompahgre National Forest
Near Ouray, Colorado
September 29, 2014 (late morning 3hrs after sunrise)
Casse and I were heading north to Ouray from Durango when we stopped to see what all the fuss was about. We met a young lady from San Diego named Carrie who was glad to see another California license plate. Carrie had been in Colorado for a few weeks and had been returning to this site as the colors evolved.
Seeing the potential of the site, we quickly set up our cameras and fired off a few shots, but part of the scene became shrouded in cloud cover, so we would have to return. No problem, it was the best fall landscape scene we had seen thus far this season. The Ridgeway area, 20 miles to the North was still practically all green.
A storm was moving in so we were able to photograph it under a blanket of snow as well, the next day.
